Removing Sod |

Sod Cutter |
The way to go
Using a sod cutter to do the majority of the work. Our yard only took an hour to use the cutter and about $40 / hr to rent. HINTS ~ Make sure to soak your lawn before renting the cutter. ~ Do not over water - you want the soil damp. ~ Be the "Quicker Picker Upper." As the sod begins to dry out it will fall apart depending on the condition of the turf. ~ Keep the beers coming. Nothing makes manual labor easier to take. |
| The TOUGH PART? Hauling away the sometimes rolled, sometimes shoveled remnants of our lawn. This is the pile after one truck load was already taken away. | ![]() |

Cost: $24 / hr to rent
Tips ~ Soak area before you till, the ground is much easier to work with. ~ Take your time with the tiller. The slower you go the more manageable it is. ~ Make sure to ask the rental company how to use the tiller. We found out that we had been using it wrong the whole time. The wheels in the back actually fold up so you get a deeper tilling!! |

| The original flagstone patio has seen better days. It is too small for our needs and the flagstone will be better used elsewhere. | ![]() |
| The concrete between the stones has loosened and in some cases is gone completely. To remove the individual stones is a piece of cake. | ![]() |
| The removal of the patio was quick -- Here Kat and Dave are helping to
remove the last of the concrete pieces. Step Three Complete ! |
