Front Yard Year 2008

Last year came and went, and no work was accomplished on the front yard. But this year will be different right?

I hope to start early this year on the front yard. So with high hopes I went to the Home and Garden show in February. My first quote was much higher than expected, so will be continuing my search for the right contractor.

June 24

The bushes have been removed from the front yard.

June 19

Woo Hoo! We are getting the patio and walkway I have thought about for 3 years.

We have contracted with American Dream Decks to remove our existing decks and replace with stamped concrete. Hopefully today we will see samples of the color / patterns to chose from. So the plan is coming together.

We now have to pull out the big bushes that sit in front of the wooden planter.

March 23

We got a small snow last night, which will hold off my spring clean up for another weekend.
I bought some more seeds to fill in the flower garden in the back yard.

  • Crego Aster
  • Echinacea
  • Moon Flower - Evening Glory *will try this for the 4th year in a row!
  • Morning glory
  • Oenothera (Missouri Evening Primrose)
  • Linaria marrocana (baby snapdragon)
  • Lupine (Russell)
  • Penstemon (Rocky Mountain)
March 5

The back yard's daffodils are beginning to appear

Some of last years daffs and tulips are back in the front yard, where I didn't get enough water to, and all of the plants died.

I am glad to say at least two projects last year were completed, expanding the flower bed in the backyard, although my crude rock wall is already falling down. Will have to mortared.
The garden fence went in and makes a great structural element in the winter when everything around is gray.

This year is really about the front yard. I am tired of seeing a sea of pea gravel!
