Buffalo Grass Sod Installed

Planning and Specifications

Colorado has seen the worst drought conditions in history this summer, and water restrictions abound. To do my part as a conservationist, I decided that buffalo grass was the ONLY way to go!

Fence
Specifications - The great stuff about Buffalo grass!
  1. LOW MAINTENANCE ALL AROUND!
  2. Requires 1/4 the water of Kentucky Bluegrass - 1/4" per week vs. 1 -1 1/2" per week.
  3. It only grows to 6" height so you can leave it au-natural or have to cut it only evry 3 weeks to maintain a manicured affect.
  4. Creates a dense sod just like Kentucky blue.
  5. Its a NATIVE!
  6. And like natives it is tough - dog friendly.
  7. Has the same wonderful feel of fine grass.

The not so great stuff about Buffalo grass
  1. Its color is more dull than Kentucky blue.
  2. Its growing season is shorter than Kentucky blue. On average buffalo grass does not come out of dormancy until May, and begins dormancy in Early September.
