Sprinkler System

Planning and Specifications

Colorado has seen the worst drought conditions in history this summer, and water restrictions abound. Planning a sprinkler system well can lower the usage of water, and prevent waste.

Specifications
  1. Measurements
    1. Water Pressure (PSI)- use water pressure gauge
    2. Water Main Size (Inches) - measure diameter of line from meter
    3. Flow Rate (Gallons per Minute) - count how many seconds it takes to fill a gallon jug
  2. Based on the measurements above you can find the number of sprinkler heads you can use per zone. A zone is a length of pipe that is connected to a valve and any number of heads.
  3. Local Permit Requirements. You must check with your city or county to determine the requirements for backward flow control (anti-siphon valve).
  4. See Websites like www.orbitonline.com or www.rainbird.com for HOW-TO's.
