A book for the nook – A Pattern Language

A Pattern Language: Towns, Buildings, Construction / Edition 1
by Christopher Alexander

I have added this book to my wishlist based on a reader’s review that urges you to look differently at your living spaces.

Christopher Alexander is passionate and persuasive about what he believes we need in our homes: natural light from two sides of a room, window seats one can actually read in … child caves because children love to be in tiny, cave-like places. You’ll never look at your home the same way again.

Reader from Goodbooks

So yeah, I DO want a cozy child cave, for that little girl in me who loved the bunkbed hideout with a blanket door.

I want my outdoors to feel as intimate. Where you can sit quietly and read. Where a stroll in the garden becomes meditation. This is the meaning of a garden for me. Well that and habitat of course.
